The Audeamus International Music Festival is as much a celebration of timeless classical music of the past as it is a journey into the unknown – music that is all but forgotten or yet to be conceived and received. However, our main mission is to reconcile the disparate and often conflicting styles, ideologies, and cultures that formed and continue to form the music of our world, and to realize these ideas on the same platform, in the same sound space, on the same night, and for the same listener.
Taking place over the course of one week, Audeamus presents concerts, masterclasses, and outreach performances throughout the city of Zagreb. For the duration of the festival, members of the artist roster form a modular ensemble, collaborating with one another in various chamber music settings to realize a program of thouroughly non-standard repertoire.
Audeamus concerts take place at the concert hall of the Mimara Museum. Masterclasses are presented in collaboration with the Elly Bašić Music School.

The Operatic Flute | Virtuosity and Belcanto
In a celebration of Italian virtuoso flute heritage, flutist Ginevra Petrucci, accompanied by pianist Paola Pisa, performs a program of concert paraphrases for flute and piano composed by flutists Giulio Braccialdi and Italo Piazza, based on operas by Gioachino Rossini, Giuseppe Verdi, and Pietro Mascagni.
Pan-America
For the 2017 edition, Audeamus Festival presents a bipartite survey of chamber music from the postwar Pan-American traditions. Three generations of composers are featured, including Gnattali, Golijov, Piazzolla, Carter, Rorem, Reich, Stucky, Muczynski, Crumb, Ginastera, and Rzewski, as well as the European premiere of "Telephone: Careless Whisper" for bass clarinet and percussion, by emerging, Boston-based composer, Victoria Cheah.
Croatian cellist Dorotea Rácz and American pianist Dmitry Samogray - collectively known as the Rácz-Samogray Duo - have forged a lasting bond through their shared commitment to the performance, promotion, and production of classical music in North America and Europe. The duo made their international debut at the PagArt Festival (Croatia) in 2011 and their American debut at the American Fine Arts Festival (Carnegie Hall) in 2012.
In 2013, they completed a summer tour of Croatia with concerts in Brač, Vis, Gradac, Ploče, Kaštela, Koprivnica, and Lipik, where they received national news coverage (HRT-1) for performing in the Slavonian region of the country, still recovering from the devastation of the Yugoslav Wars. The same year the duo made their Zagreb debut at the historic HGZ Concert Hall, which was described as “an inimitable musical evening filled with beauty and emotion,” by the press (HRsvijet.net).
In 2014, Dorotea and Dmitry joined forces with Belarusian clarinetist/composer Gleb Kanasevich to form Trio Accendo, with the goal of exploring and expanding the repertoire of the clarinet-cello-piano ensemble. Last summer they completed a tour of Italy and Croatia, with recitals at the International Festival "Umbria Classica" (Italy), Leonardo De Lorenzo Festival (Italy), as well as a season-opening recital at the Lisinski Hall in Zagreb, where the ensemble was praised for its “attentive interpretations, synchronized musical intent, and a rich tone” (Klasika.hr).
